David Lee, Sai Wing Lee

David Lee, Sai Wing Lee, 59, died May 16, 2018 at Memorial Health Hospital.

David was born in Hong Kong on August 2, 1958 to his parents Sen Che Lee, and Shou Chin Shu Lee. David was the oldest of their three sons. In 1972, his family immigrated to the United States where his father opened Peking House restaurant on Abercorn Street in Savannah. In 1984, David married Jing Dai. In 1996, he built Chinatown Market on Price Street where he and his family worked hard to support their new life and growing family.

The store started out small but grew to feed and help the constantly growing Chinese community, SCAD students, restaurants, and more. Over the years, David became a beloved leader and friend in the Chinese community.

Surviving are his wife of 34 years, Jing Dai; his brother, Ming Wing Lee of New York; his son, Johnathan Lee ; three daughters, Tina Lee, Anna Lee Tran, and Lina Lee; his granddaughter, Mai Tran; three nieces and one nephew.

Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., Saturday, May 26, 2018 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel.

Funeral Service will be held 12:00 p.m., Saturday, May 26, 2018 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel. Burial will be in Greenwich Section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
